Regulation No. 1278 published on 27 September 2024 makes a number of changes to Russian law.
In particular, the Regulation provides for:
- Increase from 10% to 25% of several official fees, including annuities.
- Abolition of the 30% reduction for electronic filing of patent applications.
- The periodicity of annuities is changed from annual to five-yearly payments.
The new legislation came into force on 5 October 2024 and applies to all patent applications and patents in force, regardless of the filing date.
The next annuity payment will be made in 5-year periods, with deduction of the dates already paid (for example, if the patent is in its 8th year, the period 6-10 will have to be paid with deduction of the 6th and 7th annuities, which have already been paid).
